The lines present in the log

###############################

Auto journal comparison

>> FOLDER 1 / JOURNAL1 (title)

>> FOLDER 2 / JOURNAL2 (title)

Introduction into the log of a difference. When several journals are compared, two line of # between two journals (a an end of log line followed by a start of log line for the next journal)

If the folder is the same and the journals are different, the folder code is displayed at the end of the first line, and only the journal codes are displayed in the following two lines; in the same way if the journal is the same and the folders are different, it is the journal that is displayed on the first line and the folders are on the following two lines.

Then, all differences are prefixed by >> to give the value of journal 1 and by << to give the value of journal 2.

###############################

P :Auto journal does not exist in folder D

###############################

When a group of journals are compared, the utility indicates the journals belonging to a template that are not present in one of the two folders. These lines are immediately followed by the result of the comparison of the next journal (if there are any others).

*** Title of the header field (code)

>> value 1

<< value 2

When fields in the journal header are different from one another, the field title will be displayed in the dictionary along with its code, as well as the two values. If the field is indexed, the indexes on which differences exist are displayed.

For example:

Module (MODULE)

Table (TBL)

Linked tables 2 (LIKTBL(2))

*** Formula Title (code)

>> expression 1

<< expression 2

When formulas located in the header field table are different, the message starts with Formula, followed by the title of the evaluated field, as well as the field code as found in the dictionary.

*** Number of lines in the journal

>> value 1

>> value 2

This message indicates that the number of lines defined in the two automatic journals are not the same. It should be noted that the comparison is made line by line; if two lines don't have the same code, but are identical elsewhere, they will appear as different lines. It is therefore important to standardise the line coding when defining automatic journals (their numbering need not be continuous, that is to say it is possible to define groups of lines spaced by 10).

*** Line Title field number (code)

>> value 1

<< value 2

A difference has been found in one of the line fields in question (from there it is identical to that when there is a difference of this type in the journal header).

*** Line number Formula Title (code)

>> expression 1

<< expression 2

A difference has been noted for a formula just as may occur in the header, but this time it is located in a given line. It should be noted that an expression that has not been defined appears in the form of a message:

(non defined expression)

*** Line number

>> [ Line does not exist ]

<< "Line title"

A line existing in one of the journals does not exist in the other (here it does not exist in the first journal, because it is prefixed by >>, but this could equally have occurred in the second).

=== No. of differences: number

############################

This summary line gives the total number of differences found for the compared journal, all mixed natures ( a simple minor difference between two fields counts the same as a non-existent line; on the other hand two totally different lines using the same number is considered as a much more important error number). When several journals are compared, the line of # completes the comparison in process.

=== The two journals are identical

############################

This summary line is displayed if no differences are found. When several journals are compared, the line of # completes the comparison in process.

Batch task

This function can be run in batch mode, but no dedicated standard task is delivered to run it.

Error messages

The only error messages are the generic ones.
