Setup > Financials > Account classes

Use this function to define the management rules linked to account categories for a given legislation, in other words:

  • the behavior regarding the carry-forward,
  • the behavior regarding the reports and inquiries.

The account class information is associated with an account or a group of accounts, regardless of whether they are of general or analytical nature or both.

For example:

For the French legislation, this setup can contain classes for social, analytical, IAS and reporting accounts.

SEEWARNING If a link to X3 accounting has been defined in Sage X3 HR & Payroll (Folders (GESADS), Links tab), the function cannot be accessed from Sage X3 HR & Payroll. If you try to access the function, the following warning message is displayed: "This object is managed in X3". From Sage X3 HR & Payroll, you can select the values coming from the X3 folder: analytical dimension, account, etc.
If there is no active link to the X3 accounting, the function can be accessed in Sage X3 HR & Payroll and the data is stored in the Sage X3 HR & Payroll folder.

Fields

The following fields are present on this tab :

Block number 1

Attachment legislation of the account classes.
This information is taken into consideration when creating a chart of accounts in order to link the chart (that is itself not necessarily linked to a legislation) with account classes, depending on their attachment legislation.

Grid Parameters

  • Code (field CLSCOD)

Identifier of the account class, composed of one to ten alphanumeric characters. This is the account class associated by default with the current chart of accounts. This value is taken by default from the setup of the chart of accounts (GESCOA).

The account class determines:

  • the behavior of the closing processing regarding the account (CFE or not),
  • the sign of the account balance in the various reports and inquiries for the analytical accounts.

The classification also enables the off-balance sheet accounts to be distinguished from the others.

  • Description (field DESTRA)

Common title of the current record.

  • Category type (field TYP)

The possible account categories are:

  • Standard:
  • Off-budget: the "off-budget" account are necessarily used for a similar posting (via the journal type setup). A off-budget type posting only includes off-budget type accounts.
  • Not used: no account from this category can be created.
  • Carryfwd. (field ERA)

Carry forward amount: flag specifying if the accounts are reinitialized when the fiscal year end processing is run:

  • Yes: The carry-forward amount is carried to the following fiscal year, either in a simulated manner if the fiscal year under progress is not closed, or via the carry-forward entry when starting the fiscal year closure.
  • No: The closing of the accounts is globalized in the results of the following fiscal year, either in a simulated manner if the fiscal year under progress is not closed, or via the carry-forward entry when starting the fiscal year closure.
  • Default sign (field DEFSNS)

It is possible to define the default sense of the account. It is proposed by default upon creation of an account.
This information automatically positions the cursor in the "debit" or "credit" column of the posting entry mask.

  • Analytical sign (field SNSANA)

The analytical sense determines the sign/sense of the balance that should be given to the accounts contained in the selected class of accounts. This information is used in the analytical inquiries and prints.
