The screens defined via this function will be usable during the various X3 inquiries if the "Screen Code" field is available in the associated Criteria window. This allows you to have multiple renditions of screens for the same function and same data (e.g., a "Short" and a "Detailed" version of Stock Transactions). Access Code security allows you to deploy these various styles of inquiries to different users, so that information is appropriately controlled.
The Active box must be checked in order for the screen to be actually generated and used.
An Access Code can be set on many inquiries, if desired, in order to filter an inquiry by user profile. If the Access Code is not assigned, the inquiry will be available regardless of the user profile. Otherwise, the user will be able to see inquiries that have an Access Code identical to one of those listed in his or her profile, provided that the Inquiry code of this Access Code is set to Yes.
The fixed number of Lines and Columns define the pagination of the inquiry, and how the horizontal scrolling will appear. Set a reasonable number of Lines (e.g., 300). Set the Fixed Column to a value which causes the N left-most fields to remain in place during horizontal scrolling, while the other columns move left and right.
The Order of the fields, set in the table below by assigning ascending numbers to fields (or 0 to hide a field), will help you determine which columns should be fixed, and which should scroll. Normally, the "key fields" on a line are fixed.
In certain inquiry functions, such as Item Management (MODECHE), additional fields may be controlled, such as the display of item totals, and whether or not the displayed data elements may be entered or modified.
