An analytical dimension is an element of the analytical general ledger accounts for the enterprise. This is divided into analytical axes where each axis constitutes a particular slice of the enterprise in a set of analytical destinations. An analytical dimension is thus an analytical destination within a axis. The dimensions set of an axis represent the 'Analytical plan' of the axis.
