This field either indicates the code of the final customer or the customer code of the order-giver.
In both cases, the customer must be defined in the Customer function.

To select a customer code, click the Selection icon and:

select a customer from all the customers defined for business partners if the order-giver field is empty,
select a customer from all the customers of the order-giver related to a service request.

You can also use the Actions icon and click:

Customer search to open the quick customer search window. This search method is recommended as it is highly efficient and offers the possibility to combine multiple search criteria. (Company name, Postcode, Town/city).
Specify a customer site to complete the customer code with the address code for which an incident occurred. This is in particular useful if service responses at the site are required for processing the request. This information is also useful for narrowing the selection in the customer installed base to the specific base of the given address.
Service response by customer to display all the planned and completed service responses for the customer, all service requests included.
