Field help (WPCU)

The unit of measure (UOM) for stock transactions may be selected from the following types:

Storage or Stocking UOMs, the basic units in which a product is stored (such as EA or GAL)

Purchase/Sales/Packing Units of the order or work order being processed

If the selected UOM is of the "Packing" Type (i.e., a type used to represent how products are packaged, cartonized, or managed in the warehouse), it is saved in the Stock file and may be used as a "Handling Unit" in all other transactions. This can result in one product being stored in the warehouse in Eaches, Case of 24 Eaches, and Box of 8 Cases, for example. Each storage or handling unit will be treated separately in displays and during stock processing.

The default UOM is suggested according to the stock transaction parameters.
