Common data > Common tables > Postal codes

In any software, it is possible, on entry of the address, to automatically enter the zip code from the entry of the city or vice versa (when several zip codes are associated with a city or the inverse, it will be necessary to use a selection window). This function uses the zip code table defined here.

In addition it will be possible to carryout a control based on this table, warning the user when the city or zip code are unknown. This control can only be carried out in the default country or for all the countries.

Fields

The following fields are present on this tab :

Block number 1

This field identifies the country to which the zip/postal code belongs.

  • Postal code (field POSCOD)
  • City (field POSCTY)

Name of the town/city corresponding the zip code previously entered : It is the issuing office or the attached community.

Block number 2

  • Municipality code (field POSCTYCOD)

This code is the "official" code for the municipality. It is part of the record identifier, because a town/city can have 2 different codes in rare cases.

  • Geographic code (field GEOCOD)

Used to associate a geographic code with a zip code (USA localization).
