Browsers 7.0 patch 2

This document describes the minimum configuration requirements that are needed for a smooth connection to an application in a SAFE X3 technology from an Internet browser.

The evolution brought by the latest version are shown in bold.

CategoryConfiguration requirements
Operating system
  • As the client runs in a browser, the supported client operating systems are defined by the browser. Some restrictions apply for Microsoft Office (see below).
Hardware
  • Any hardware supporting the browsers mentioned below (workstations, tablets, and mobile phones).
  • The screen size constraints may require dedicated functions, especially for mobile.
  • The Classic mode also requires a minimal screen size (1024*768 pixels) and cannot run on mobile phones.
Browser supported
  • The web client used in version 7 is available on any modern browser with a minimum support of HTML5. This provides the following compatibility matrix:
  • BrowserVersion and operating system
ChromeVersion 33 or higher on any operating system supported by Chrome (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and Android).
FirefoxVersion 27 or higher on any operating system supported by Firefox (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and Android).
Internet ExplorerVersion 10 or higher, only on Windows.
OperaVersion 20 or higher on any operating system supported by Opera (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, and Android).
SafariVersion 6 or higher, only on Mac OS X.

Network software

  • TCP/IP protocol installed and configured.

Office client

  • Microsoft Office 2010 or Microsoft Office 2013, only in Windows environments (no plug-in available for Mac OS X).

Printing support
  • Printing can either be:

    • Sent directly to a printer seen by the print server.

    • Viewed in a browser instance. You can then choose from different export formats as they are supported by Crystal Reports. For a PDF export (default), it is necessary to install Acrobat Reader V10 or higher on the workstation.

Others

  • Some components still used by the Classic mode (the process designer) are running on Flash and require the installation of the Flash player. The related function can only run if Flash is available.

  • This excludes IPAD tablets.
