Setup > Description translation

This functionality makes it possible for a given language (different to the entry language for the different translatable elements), to translate certain texts by differentiation.

The data that can be translated are the following:

the price list columns

the invoicing elements

the product descriptions

the units

the packaging

the delivery methods

the payment conditions

the customer/supplier/product statistical groups

the miscellaneous tables.

The advantage of this function does not simply reside in the simple translation of an element in the database, that makes it possible, at the time of a connection to a folder in another language, to have the different texts displayed in the connection language, and also in the printing of Reports.

In fact, the majority of the reports can be printed in the language of the Business Partner to which they are addressed. For example, an order acknowledgement destined for a French customer, can have the product descriptions, charges and discounts in French. And this happens, even if the order acknowledgement is printed from a workstation connected in English.

Principles of the functioning

Characteristics

The grid loads the lines corresponding to the selection.

The text in the source language is displayed in the first column of the grid.

The text in the target language (translation language) is displayed in the second column of the grid. If no text is displayed, it means that the translation has not yet been entered. It is just necessary to enter the translated text.

The four other columns (field, indentifier1, Identifier2 and activity) are for information only. The first three are used to identify the text.
