If the data on this line of the inquiry is sorted (either ascending or descending), it might also be grouped, so that you can "drill up" to summarize numerical values (such as total sales revenue). Set this flag to "Yes" to denote such a grouping or "break," and set the Level to the number of the break.
For example, a simple inquiry might have line 1 as Site, line 2 as Customer, and line 3 as sales order value, all found in the SORDERP table. Setting breaks on lines 1 and 2, and setting the Levels of the lines as 1, 2, and 3 respectively, would result in the inquiry first showing you all of the details when it first executes, and then allowing you to summarize the sales order values up to the Customer level, then up to the Site level. You would do this simply by pressing the Drill Up button until you reached the top.
Up to 99 levels may be specified to group data (but in actual use, no more than a half dozen may ever be used). The ordinal (relative) number of the number is important, not its actual value (i.e., Levels 5, 10, and 15 would function the same as Levels 1, 2, and 3). The lowest Level number represents the highest level of grouping. The level is assigned by default to 1 on the first line of the inquiry, and incremented every time a break is requested (Group = Yes) on the previous line. It can be modified, however, if you wish to display a value at a different summary level (e.g., to have a Customer Name displayed along with a Customer Number, when the Customer Number is set with a break).
