Stock > Reorders > Demand forecasts

This function is used to enter and view the demand forecasts for a product at a given site.

This function generates orders of the type SOS in the WIP.

These forecasts can be manually entered period by period or automatically based on the distribution information which can include the seasonality curve linked to the product or by duplicating the forecasts for another product.

Screen management

This function is composed of a left list with all the products in the database and a screen presenting the forecasts for the selected product.

Entry screen

Presentation

The selections :

The site: mandatory field, the user's default site is proposed by default.

The product: mandatory field.

Date range: the start date is initialized by the horizon end date for the request or by the current date if there is not one.

The request horizon, the seasonality curve, the economic lot and the technical lot are loaded after selecting the product.

Forecast display

On display, the forecast grid is used to view the sales forecasts already existing for each month (a grid line by month).

The quantities are detailed by week for each month.

The last 2 columns in the grid specify the start and end date for the month.

For each forecast line, at the end of the line entry the totals by month are displayed and at the end of the general entry the percentage information is displayed.

These forecasts can be modified directly in the grid, deleted or modified.

If the firm and/or planned orders have been requested (boxes ticked), they are inserted in the forecast sequencing.

At the level of each line, using a contextual button, it is possible to:

view the calendar for the month

view the orders in progress linked to the line

group the next line or lines.

Forecast creation

Manual creation of forecasts

If the forecasts exist already, it is sufficient to modify, delete or add lines.

If no forecast exists, it is possible to enter them directly period by period in the grid.

Creation of the forecast based on the seasonality information

The button opens a window used to give the information necessary for the calculation. That is to say:

the date range (the calculation period is pre-loaded with the horizon entered in the main window)

the quantity to be distributed initialized by the total amount for each line.

and the distribution method for this quantity in the horizon (week by week, all on week 1 of the month, all on week 2 of the month, all on week 3 of the month or all on the last week).

It is possible to associate a seasonality curve to these data. By default the system proposes the curve associated with the product in the product-site record, but this field can be modified.

If a seasonality curve is entered, the quantity to be distributed is adjusted over time by the season.

Once the calculation criteria are entered, the use of the OK button replenishes the grid with the newly loaded forecasts.

It is possible to add the forecasts or to modify the forecasts created in this way directly in the grid.

The demand forecasts created in this way are taken into account by the MRP calculation process for the replenishment of the product concerned, taking into account, depending on the setup, the demand horizon planned for the product.

Forecast creation by duplication

The "Forecast duplication" left list is used to duplicate the forecasts for another product for the period included between a date range.

For that purpose, it is necessary to select from the "Demand forecasts" left list the product that will have its forecasts modified. Then, the forecasts that are to be duplicated are selected from the "Forecast duplication" left list. Finally it is saved in order to take into account the modification.
