The mass mailing and call campaign assistants are tools that can potentially be used to manipulate very large volumes of data.

In view of these volumes, two specific requirements must be met:

1 / The selections must be executed within the shortest time possible.
2 / Support of any sample generation must be guaranteed without any maximum volume constraint.

To achieve these objectives, the assistants carryout two major actions.

They truncate a request into several smaller, successive requests. This makes it possible to manage samples without any volume constraint.

They group the transactions. This leads to a noticeable improvement in the performances.

This parameter is used to influence the breakdown of requests and the grouping of transactions carried out during the generation of marketing samples.

In the great majority of cases, the default value of 500 is perfectly satisfactory and does not require modification.

The entry of a lower value can be imposed by the definition of very small "rollback segment" sizes at the level of a database using stable cursors.
