Basic parameters > Logistical units > Container type

This function is used to create, display, modify or delete a container type.

It makes it possible to define the handled container (level) nesting notion.

The container type represents the packing nature of a product and it specifies the level it has to occupy in its palletization program.

The container type list is defined with alphanumeric codes, which are composed of a maximum of 1 characters, with a title and a short title associated with one another.

The container level represents the space that a container of this type should occupy in the palletization program of an item.

Warehousing manages 5 parameterizable container levels, which could be:

  • Level 1: Pallet
  • Level 2: Layer
  • Level 3: Box
  • Level 4: Bag
  • Level 5: CU or SU (based on the level 5 management mode: Normal=CU ou Unit=SU)

Only level 5 is mandatory and unique.

The grouping code is used for the merging of flows.

The number of container types and their codifications are left totally free.

Screen management

Entry is performed from a simple grid.

Presentation

The container type must have a significant value of its level because, associated with a container code, it is present in all the product database.

The group code is used within the framework of the preparation mode with merging of flows and makes it possible to transfer stock objects having the same container to the allocation store.

The container management mode is used to define le level 5 container type:

  • "Normal"management: the level 5 container is a CU container. This container type is solely reserved for products managed with CUs.
  • "Unit" management: the level 5 container is a PAC container. This type of container is solely reserved for prpducts managed with CUs.

Fields

The following fields are present on this tab :

Grid

The container type represents the packing nature of a product and it specifies the level it has to occupy in its palletization program.

  • Description (field CTTDESAXX)

  • Short description (field CTTSHOAXX)

  • Level (field LVL)

The container level represents the space that a container of this type should occupy in the palletization program of an item.

The following program is usually defined:
Level 1: pallet level
Level 2: layer level
Level 3: box level
Level 4: bag level
Level 5: logistical unit (LU) or consumption unit level (CU).

  • Management (field CTRTYP)

Indicates how to use this type of container. This choice is possible on levels 5 only.

  • "Normal"management: the level 5 container is a CU container. This container type is solely reserved for products managed with CUs.
  • "Unit" management: the level 5 container is a STK unit container. This type of container is solely reserved for products managed with STK units.
  • Group merging of flows (field GRUCOD)

The grouping code is used for the merging of flows.

Error messages

In addition to the generic error messages, the following messages can appear during the entry :

Code already exists on line N

The same container type has been entered twice on two different lines in the grid.

Level error, Modification impossible

All modifications are prohibited if containers associated with the container type exist.
