Stock > Utilities > Serial/stock resynchronization

This script can be useful when managing serial numbers on products, depending on the Global receipt & issue.
In this case, and for any reason, the serial numbers may no longer be synchronized with the stock lines: the number of serial numbers associated with the stock line is different from the stock quantity.

Two functions are available to resynchronize them:
  • The Stock resynchronization and control function. This function runs an automatic resynchronization processing. This only applies to cases which can be solved with no manual intervention.
  • The second function, Serial/stock resynchronization, is the function described here.
Use this function when the automatic processing is not sufficient and when a manual intervention, product by product, is necessary.

You can:
  • view the de-synchronized stock lines and, depending on the context,
  • remove a serial number from a stock line,
  • associate a new serial number to a stock line.
The processing does not take into account the stock lines awaiting put-away.

Screen management

The function displays a selection screen for the lines to be processed:

  • Select:
    • the site to which the processing applies,
    • the product or product range to be processed.

  • Specify if you want to view all the stock lines or only the desynchronized lines.
  • Click OK to start the selection.

A second screen displays the de-synchronized products meeting the selection criteria, product by product.
Click the navigation buttons to go from one product to another.

Header

Presentation

The header displays, product by product:
  • the stock quantity,
  • the number of serial numbers for the product-site compared to the initial situation,
  • the number of serial numbers compared to the new situation after the corrections and resynchronizations have been carried out.

In initial situation, several de-synchronization cases can occur:
  • The total number of serial numbers does not match the total quantity of stock lines.

  • The total number of serial numbers does match the total quantity of stock lines. The de-synchronization is seen at the stock line level: some serial numbers can be associated with an incorrect stock line or the number of serial numbers on a line does not match the quantity of the line.

Tab Stock situation

Presentation

Use this tab to run the resynchronization.
According to the choice made during the launch, this tab displays, in a tab, either all the stock lines or only the ones which have been de-synchronized. The de-synchronized lines are displayed in red.

For each line, the following information is reminded:
  • the quantity in STK,
  • the initial number of serial numbers before processing followed by the number of serial numbers after launching the processing,
  • the main characteristics of the stock.
The resynchronization processing is performed line by line.
To resynchronize a line, click Serial resynchronization from the Actions icon.

Action icon

Serial resynchronization

Click this action to resynchronize a line.

A new screen is displayed. It presents:
  • a header with the stock line characteristics, as well as the initial and the new situation,
  • a table allowing you to enter the serial numbers to be removed from the stock line,
  • another table allowing you to add the serial numbers which are missing on the line.
To remove a serial number:
  • In the selection panel, click the serial number to remove. It is automatically displayed in the table of serial numbers to be removed.
  • Specify its new target, i.e. its new stock sequence number. Two situations can occur:
    • The serial number no longer exists physically: enter the value 0.
The serial number still exists in the database but it is no longer linked to a stock sequence number. It is automatically deleted when launching a Stock resynchronization and control script.
    • The serial number is not associated with the correct stock sequence number. Enter the correct stock sequence number directly or select it by clicking the Selection icon to display the stock sequence numbers which lack serial numbers.
  • Save.

To add a serial number:
  • Click the Selection icon from the Serial number field of the table.
The selection list is filtered so that it only displays the excessive serial numbers on other stock lines.
Select the serial number to add.
To add a serial number, using the Serial numbers to add list from the selection panel is not recommended: this list displays all the serial numbers that exist for all the stock lines of the product. It is not filtered to only display the serial numbers which could potentially match.
  • You can also enter a non existent serial number in order to record a serial number recovered physically from the stock in the database.
  • Save.

At the end of the processing;
  • the resynchronized lines are no longer displayed in red,
  • a log file displays the list of the resynchronizations that have been performed,
  • no stock movement is generated: the stock line quantity is never modified. It is the serial number attachment to the stock lines which is modified.
