Use this function to define several locations or places used for the transportation of goods.
Typically they are transit areas such as a harbor, an airport, a station, customs. They can also be departure or arrival places for goods such as a site or a supplier.

This setup is used at the logistics chain level. It is a prerequisite to the determination of Transport lead times.

Presentation

To create a location:

  • specify the relevant location type, its code and description,
  • link it to an address (mandatory). When the type of place is a Site or a Supplier, the address line is automatically initialized with the default address of this site or supplier.

Once the place has been created, the type of place cannot be modified. The choice of site or supplier is not modifiable either.

When a place is used in another object, for example in the definition of transport lead times, it cannot be deleted.

Fields

The following fields are present in this tab:

Name of the block

  • Place type (TPCTYP field)

Select the type of transit area of the goods (LM 2080).
When the chosen type of place corresponds to a site or a supplier, their default address as well as their contact information (phone number and e-mail address) are automatically entered in the address grid from the BPAFCY table.
After the creation, you cannot modify this information anymore.

  • Place (TPC field)

The place code is mandatory. You can:

  • enter this information,
  • use automatic numbering. The number is attributed upon recording the creation. This number depends on the setup of the sequence number assigned to the document of the Placetype in the Common data module (Sequence number Structure and Sequence number assignment functions).
    • Description (DESAXX field)

This long description is used as a title in screens and reports.

    • Short description (DESSHO field)

Description used in some screens or reports when there is not enough space to view the long title.

    • Release time (days) (LTITPC field)

Specify, in number of days, the release time of the goods. It is the holding time of the goods, for verification purposes.

    • Site (field FCY)

This field can only be accessed if the chosen type of place has the value 'Site'.
In that case, you can specify either by entry or selection the code of the chosen site.
The addresses grid will automatically be loaded with the site default address after clicking on Append (field FIELDLABEL).
After the creation, you cannot modify this information anymore.

    • Supplier (BPSNUM field)

After the creation, you cannot modify this information anymore.

    Addresses

    • Address (BPA_BPAADD field)

Enter one single address line (mandatory).
When the location type is Siteor Supplier, the information on the address line is automatically initialized with the information relating to the default address code of the site or the supplier. You can modify this information or select a different address code. You can also create a new address code and the identification information associated with it.
The changes in the information associated with an address code and the creation of a new address code are not copied in the site and suppliers address table.

    • Description (BPADES field)

Description of the address (for internal usage). Example: temporary address, principal warehouse address...

    • Country (field CRY)

This code is used to identify, amongst other things, the Country of a BP.
This is important information, associated with a number of characteristics useful for performing controls on other linked information, in particular:

    • the telephone number format,
    • the format of the number used to identify a company or activity (SIRET, SIC) and whether the entry is mandatory,
    • the postal code format of the town and also the code of the geographic subdivision, and whether their entry is mandatory,
    • whether the VAT number of this community is mandatory,
    • the Bank ID code format.
    • Country name (CRYNAM field)

Name of the country used in the addresses and in all those documents where the country code is entered.

    • Address line 1 (BPADDLIG1 field)

Indicate the address of the location.

    • Postal code (POSCOD field)

The postal code, whose entry format is defined in the Country table, is used to define the town/city and the geographical subdivision if it is defined for the country.
When the postal code is changed the city/town corresponding to the new code is automatically displayed. The principle is the same for the geographical subdivision if it is present for the country.
It is also possible to manually enter the town/city name. If the town/city is already defined, the associated postal code is automatically displayed.

The control of this information and its mandatory nature depend on the setup carried out in the country management. In order for the control to be applied, the POSCOD - Nonexistent postal code alert parameter (SUP chapter, INT group) must also have the value "Yes".

    Particular cases :

    - for ANDORRA, indicate 99130
    - for MONACO, indicate 99138
    - for the other overseas countries, indicate the INSEE code of the country or 99999 if not known.

    • City (CTY field)

The city automatically suggested is the one associated with the postal code previously indicated. It is also possible to manually enter the name of a town/city:

    • if the town/city is already defined, the associated postal code is automatically displayed,
    • If the city does not exist and the postal code control has been set up in the Country record, a warning message is displayed but the continuation of the entry is authorized. In addition, the CTY - Nonexistent city alert parameter (chapter SUP, group INT) must have the value "Yes" for this control to apply.
    • If the latter does not exist and the postal code is not entered, a blocking message is displayed when the postal code is set up as mandatory for the country.

    Notes:

    • Its format is defined in the Country record setup.
    • Depending on this setup, the entered town/city can automatically be converted into uppercase after it has been entered.
    • In order to make selections easier without taking into account the format (accented characters/uppercase letters/lowercase letters), the selection window available on this field proposes a column dedicated to the search, where the names of the towns/cities are displayed in uppercase. The control which is carried out is case-insensitive since it is carried out with respect to the town/city name stored in uppercase.
    • State (SAT field)

This field contains the geographical SDL TEST subdivision corresponding to definition of the postal address.
For example, a 'department' for France, and a state for the United-States.
The description of the geographic subdivision, as well as the control on the information entry, are defined in theCountries setup.
This field is automatically loaded after the postal code and town/city have been entered, based on the Postal codes setup.

If the field is controlled, the control is carried out according to the Geographical subdivision table.

    • Mobile (MOB field)

Specify the mobile phone number. Its entry format depends on the country.

    • Web site (FCYWEB field)

This field is used to indicate a web site.
