The Multilevel BOMs function displays an initial screen into which you enter details of the parent product (the BOM) and the date for which you want to explode the BOM to view the components used in it.
Presentation
You use this screen to enter details of the BOM and your required reference date.

Fields
The following fields are present on this tab :
XSL
Parent product
| Select Manufacturingif you manufacture this bill of materials (BOM). If it is procured from a subcontractor select Subcontracting. This field is not available for selection if you have accessed this function directly from the Production BOMs or Sub-contracting BOMs function. |
| Use this field to define the storage site (warehouse). The site defined on the user record is displayed by default but can be amended.
|
| This parent product code describes what is referred to as a "Bill of Materials" or a "BOM". A BOM contains structured information for making and costing a product. It defines the components that make up a product, and given this, the cost of the product. The parent product code is a stock code. It is the assembly or finished goods code. |
| Multiple bills of materials (BOMs) can be defined for a single product. Each BOM code can be assigned specific management features. For manufactured or subcontracted products this includes restriction of the BOM to a specific site and to specific areas of functionality (for costing or for capacity planning). |
| The reference date is used to select the products according to their validity start date and end date.
|
| This field indicates which version of this product applies. Major versions might be used where there have been increased or significant changes in functionality. To view the details of a different version of this product type in, or select a version code from the list of version codes displayed. This field is not available for entry if the product code defined in the Parent product field is not version managed. |
| This field indicates which minor version of this product applies. Minor versions might be used where there have been minor features or changes in functionality, or significant fixes applied to a specific major version. To view the details of a different version of this product type in, or select a version code from the list of version codes displayed. This field is not available for entry if the product code defined in the Parent product field is not version managed. |
Management
| This field specifies the BOM description. |
| This field displays the unit for the parent product, as defined on the Stock record. It cannot be amended. |
| The management unit defines the quantity of the BOM links using a basis other than the product unit. |
| Entry of a base quantity is determined by the defined Management unit, as follows:
|
Use
| The BOM header shows validity start and end dates. |
| This field displays the start date of the displayed version's (major and minor) validity period. |
| This field displays the final date of the displayed version’s validity period. This field is blank if the displayed version is the current, or active version. |
| This field indicates the assembly status of this BOM. This field will be set to one of the following values:
|
Grid Components
| This field displays the component product code. |
|   |
| This field identifies the sequence number of this component in this BOM (bill of materials). It identifies a component where multiple components with the same product code are defined as variants or options. The BOMSTE - Component sequence increment parameter (TC chapter, BOM group) defines the first sequence number and the increment applied to subsequent component sequence numbers. |
| This long description is used as a title in screens and reports. By default the short title, the long title or the column header of a data are recorded (on creation/update) in the connection language of the user.
A user who logs on with this language will view the short description, long description or column header in their connection language if a translation exists. Otherwise, these descriptions will be available in the folder language.
|
| This field displays the quantity of this component in the stock unit that is needed to make the parent product. The default quantity is calculated from the entered quantity using the UOM-STK coefficient (field BOMSTUCOE). You can amend it if necessary. The sum of the link quantity of each component must equal 100 if the defined management unit (field QTYCOD) for this BOM is Percentage.
|
| This field indicates the product management unit in which are expressed:
This information is always displayed, regardless of the transaction used. It cannot be modified. |
|   |
| Use this field to define what type of component this is. You can set it to one of the following values:
|
|   |
|   |
|   |
|   |
|   |
Component detail
| This field displays the component product code. |
| This is the description from the product record. |
| This field displays the short description of the bill of material (BOM). |
| This field indicates which version of this component (material) applies. Major versions might be used where there have been increased or significant changes to the original or previous version, that is the "form, fit or function" has changed. This field is not populated if the component code defined in the Component or Material field is not version managed. |
| This field indicates which minor version of this component (material) applies. Minor versions might be used where there have been minor features or changes in functionality, or significant fixes applied to a specific major version. This field is not populated if the component code defined in the Component or Material field is not version managed. |
| The link quantity specifies the number of components required for the basic quantity of the parent product. |
This field displays the unit of measure (volume or mass) for this component. |
|
This field displays the unit in which the product is stored. It provides the key to prices, costs, volumes etc. |
| This is the conversion coefficient between the operation unit for this component and the storage unit. This coefficient is initialized from the conversion factor table if the combination exists. |
| Use this field to define how the quantity of this component in the stock unit that is needed to make the parent product is determined:
|
| The validity start date is the date from which the link is valid. |
| The validity end date is the date beyond which the link is no longer valid. |
| For components that are managed by lot, this is the first lot for which this link is valid. |
| For components that are managed by lot, this is the last lot for which this link is valid. |
| Use this field to enter the current stock value for the components directly associated with the top level of the bill of materials (BOM). |
This field displays the currency from the standard cost. |
Miscellaneous
| This field displays the component type. It will be set to one of the following values:
|
| The loss percentage is used to increase the link quantity in order to take into account the loss due to the production process.
|
| This field displays the specific operation or stage in the manufacturing process at which this component must be available to it. |
| The operation lead-time is used at the release and in the MRP calculation, in order to offset the component requirement with respect to the production start date of the parent product. This lead-time is expressed in business days. |
| This field displays the rounding rule that is applied to adjust the calculated quantity of this component to the number of decimal places defined for the stock unit of the parent product. It is set to one of the following values:
|
| This field displays how stock of this product is managed:
|
| This suggestion type is used when running material requirements planning. It is used to define if the product has to be subject to:
If the suggestion is of type Intersite, the reorder site must be specified in the Reorder site field (REFCY). |
